Celebrating EfM's Visionaries
The Rev. Kevin M. Goodman, Executive Director, Education for Ministry
As Education for Ministry’s 50th Anniversary celebration draws to a close, we find ourselves filled with gratitude for all that has been accomplished and inspired by the possibilities that lie ahead.
This remarkable year has been marked by significant milestones. We launched EfM’s Fifth Curriculum Revision, ensuring that our flagship program remains faithful to its founding vision while meeting the needs of today’s God-seekers. We introduced EfM: Wide Angle, a new one-year formation experience designed to make theological reflection and spiritual growth accessible to even more people. We also launched EfM: Reflections, a series of short, 6–8 week courses that bring the power of small-group formation to participants seeking focused opportunities for study, conversation, and discernment.
The culmination of this anniversary year was a celebratory gathering at the School of Theology in Sewanee, Tennessee. Together, alumni, participants, mentors, coordinators, and friends honored the first 50 years of Education for Ministry while imagining what the next 50 years might hold. It was a joyful occasion marked by gratitude for the countless lives transformed through theological education and faith formation.
During that gathering, a group of generous supporters expressed a desire to create a lasting tribute to the founders, visionaries, and faithful leaders whose imagination and dedication gave birth to Education for Ministry. Their vision was to dedicate the the EfM Conference Room in the beautifully renovated Hamilton Hall at the School of Theology as a permanent reminder of those who created, built, and began this program of theological education at a distance.
The naming opportunity requires a gift of $50,000. Inspired by this vision, the founding group has already seeded the campaign with gifts totaling $15,000.
As we conclude our 50th Anniversary celebration, we invite you to help us reach our goal. Your gift will honor the pioneers who created Education for Ministry, celebrate the thousands of participants whose lives have been shaped by it, and help ensure that future generations continue to benefit from this transformative formation program.
A gift of any size will bring us closer to our goal and help establish a lasting tribute to the people whose faith, creativity, and commitment have shaped EfM’s first 50 years.
Thank you for your support of Education for Ministry and for your partnership in preparing for the next 50 years of formation, reflection, and faithful service.
