It is an exciting time at EfM’s program center. My staff and I are preparing for our two-day staff retreat. Our focus will come from two sources; “Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership: Seeking God in the Crucible of Ministry” by Ruth Haley Barton and “The Anxious Organization” by Jeffrey A. Miller. Both sources will help us apply new lenses to the changes and challenges in the upcoming months. We are preparing to join the Episcopal Church gathered at the General Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, plans are underway for our celebration at Sewanee, marking EfM’s 50th Anniversary. All are invited.
Transitions in the textbook industry directly impact our program as distribution channels determine program changes. As electronic textbooks and digital media become the primary delivery of educational and formational materials, EfM is preparing to meet the changes ahead. Last month, a mentor training in North Carolina was the first to test Pathwright learning modules and evaluate their use as a training tool. My Council of Advice, staff from the School of Theology, and the Curriculum Revision Task Force members were the first of our constituents to use and imagine the possibilities for program enhancement, transformation, and seminar life.
The work of the Curriculum Revision Task Force is well underway. Fourteen “Focus Leaders” are working to update our signature program with new essays and resources for participants and mentors, all in line with EfM’s core practices. The new curriculum will roll out in September 2025, following our 50th Anniversary celebration.
The Communications Task Force has been hard at work preparing new brochures and brand recognition products for the General Convention, which will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, this summer. Their work has focused on a new recruitment brochure and informational brochures focused on theological reflection and EfM’s core practices. Additionally, a registration postcard for EfM’s 50th is in the works. Are you planning to attend the General Convention? If so, look for EfM within the University of the South’s School of Theology.
Mark your calendars now! We hope you will travel to Sewanee to celebrate 50 years of EfM. Plenary sessions will include an introduction to the new curriculum, recognition of EfM’s history, and workshops on Pathwright integration, with plenty of opportunities to celebrate the program’s transformative effect on people worldwide. Be the first to discover new offerings such as EfM: Catechumenate, EfM: Questions, EfM: Reflections, and EfM: Play. Join us Thursday, June 5-Sunday, June 8, 2025! Celebration pricing with room and board is $850 for a single room and $750 for a shared room. A commuter rate, which includes community meals, is $550 commuter. Registration opens on July 1, 2024.
As we gear up for fall registration, note that tuition will increase to $350.00, including a $10 processing fee. For participants seeking scholarships, don’t hesitate to contact your mentor or diocesan coordinator.
